Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe

The Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe of Florida, Inc. is the only professional black theater company on Florida’s West Coast. Its mission is to produce professional theater that promotes and celebrates the African-American experience, to attract diverse audiences, to support and develop African-American artists, and to build the self-esteem of African-American youth.

WBTT presents four mainstage productions and a holiday show each season, plus the following offerings: “WBTT Voices,” community forums in which the public can dig more deeply into the people and issues that have shaped the African-American experience in our country; the “Young Artists Program,” through which Troupe members are able to showcase their talents with one-night, one-person shows, “Jazzlinks,” which brings history lessons to life for area students; the “New Playwrights Series,” for emerging minority playwrights; and “Stage of Discovery,” a free summer musical theatre camp serving minority students.
